Conscious to evolve and reduce the impact of our work on the environment, we decided to convert our vineyards to organic.

Since November 2007 we are committed to the certification body AGROCERT to meet the specifications of the European organic farming.

Since 2011, Vinum Natura, red and white, are certified Organic Farming.

In 2008, we installed beehives in the vineyard. In the spring the bees return to activity, queens begin to lay and sunny days are an opportunity to contemplate these swarms of workers do return to their tasks.

Now this honey is sold under the name:
"Les ruchers de La Vieille Tour"
What is an organic wine?

Organic wine production is governed by a European regulation that specifies the rules for production, processing, labeling and importation of organic products. This regulation has been in force since 1991 and was updated in 2007-2008.
From 1991 to July 2012, the regulation was only on cultural techniques applied in the vineyard and not the winemaking. From 2012-08-01 , the European regulation is extended to organic wine, which allows the sale of wine  "organic wine" labeled.

How to recognize an organic wine?

Firstly it is important to remember that any winemaker in organic farming is inspected at least once a year (usually there are two controls that unexpectedly) by a certification body accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture. These controls assure you that we work according to European specifications. It is the only agricultural certification questioned annually.
Following checks, the certification body shall issue a certificate of production for the year. We obligation to affix the bottle green leaf logo (European logo) and we have the possibility to add the French AB logo (optional).

Organic viticulture in practice ...

The vine growing in organic farming based on the following techniques:

- Implementation of preventive measures to reduce the sensitivity of culture for parasites, before considering the use of plant protection products,
- Use of natural origin products exclusively for fertilization and protection of vineyards,
- Prohibition of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or derived from GMOs,
- Management of weeds by mechanical interventions (tillage, mulching, hand weeding ...)

Practice organic viticulture systematically increases resource manpower to address any product use: observation time in the vineyard to anticipate interventions, mechanical management and non-chemical weed ... It usually results an increase in production costs.

What is organic wine?

The objectives are:

- produce quality wines. This remains the primary objective with a more restrictive than others (no synthetic pesticides or mineral fertilizers, no GMO) production environment

- protect the environment and water resources, it is a very important issue to preserve water quality in wine-growing zones

- segment and diversify the supply of wine to meet consumer demands

- create and maintain jobs in rural areas. Organic farming is a form of agriculture generally require more labor. (source SudVinBio)
